TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) is a Korean-American DJ, producer, and label head from Los Angeles who has become one of the most innovative figures in electronic music. Born in Torrance, California, she studied piano classically before discovering electronic music production.
Her sound defies easy categorization, blending hip-hop, R&B, house, and experimental electronic music. She founded the Young Art Records label and has released critically acclaimed albums including “Midnight Menu,” “Desiderium,” and “Lune Rouge.”
In 2016, TOKiMONSTA was diagnosed with Moyamoya disease, a rare condition affecting blood vessels in the brain, which required two brain surgeries. Her remarkable comeback, detailed in the documentary “TOKiMONSTA: Midnight Menu,” is an inspiring story of resilience. She’s also been nominated for Grammy Awards and won the LA Weekly’s Best DJ award.
